Of Dolls and Daily DeviationsHello everyone!
I want to talk to you about bashing dolls and DDs in general.
I must say this has been brewing in me for well...a very long time now and though I personally haven't been hit with this yet, it breaks my heart when I see it done to others. So you get to listen to me for a few minutes. I was literally going to make you listen to me. I was going to record a video for this but I've been sick and way too busy for that.
I am going to break down this journal here in case you feel like jumping to different sections.

II. - My take on everything
III. - DD's and DD Etiquette -- This was originally just going to concern dolls but I witnessed this happen to many types of artists so I adjusted this to a more generalized form.
I. Doll Basics
Before you can feign knowledge about something, you should at least know enough to get yourself into trouble and if you so choose enough to get yourself out of said trouble.

Contest Time!Ok I promised this was coming and here we go.
Rules:
No frankendolling/art theft
Free base (you can choose any one you like)
Credit
You know the standards.
Prizes:
1st place - 3 mo sub
2nd place - 1 mo sub
3rd place - 500 points
Specifics of the Contest:
I warned this would be difficult and it will be. Free theme, meaning you can choose whatever to doll if you want to doll an alien or Amazonian warrior chick go for it. However there is a CATCH.
You can only use 10 colors. Base and all excluding transparency. So yes there will be reshading. You are free to build your palette anyway you choose. By colors I don't mean you choose the color pink and you get to use all the shades in between. Literally 10 colors for the entire doll. You will recycle colors and I encourage that! So theoretically this is a constricted palette challenge but you get to build your own palette.

Ok I was on join.me with

and she had mentioned as much as she loved making hair, braids were a problem for her. It got me thinking.

Braids used to be a MAJOR problem for me until I broke down and tried to understand them.

This is not a step by step tutorial. This is basically a theory lesson. If you understand it, you will get better at it. Whatever "it" is. I will NOT teach you my exact method. My methods change constantly so by the time I would be done with a tutorial I would be making a completely different style of art.

What I can offer is some insight. Why things do the things they do.
